Smart Ways to Save Money: Donate!

Looking for ways to save money? Did you know that sometimes it involves not actually getting something but actually giving something away? Yep, we’re talking about donating! Donating to your local thrift store or second hand shop can help save you money. Keep on reading to find out how!

Tax Deductable

Did you know that when you bring a donation to any one of the Arc Stores and typically most other thrift stores (as long as they are a non-profit) you receive a tax deductable receipt? Awesome, right?! Imagine if you donate a couple hundred dollars worth of product every few months. That’s going to make a pretty good write-off for you come tax season.

A few tips:

  • Be able to calculate a rough amount of what your items are worth
  • Know what category your donated items will fall under
  • Don’t forget to ask for a receipt if you weren’t offered one
  • Save your receipts some place you won’t loose them come tax season

Fun Fact: The money from the sales of your donation to the Arc Stores supports services for nearly 900 families each year in Butte County.

Saves You Money

By donating to your local thrift store, in particular the Arc Store, it will actually save you money! Items that actually cost you money to get rid of like large furniture and large appliances like washing machines.

Guess what? We’ll even take your car! No hassle and no money spent out of your pocket. Now that’s a smart way to save some money if you ask me.

Go the extra mile by donating your vehicle to Autos for Arc. We accept any car or truck, any year, in any condition. Your used vehicle can really help us make a difference. We also take boats, RVs, motorcycles, ATVs and other vehicles. Drive up and drop off – or we’ll pick up your vehicle for free. You’ll get documentation of the fair market value for tax purposes. Saves You Time

All you have to do is drive up to any Arc Store during the allotted business hours and drop of your donation. It only takes a quick few minutes depending on how much you are donating. Note: if you do have large items to donate it’s good to call ahead of time.

Fun Fact: You help our disabled staff members work, gain job training and paid work experience.

You’re Doing Yourself a Favor
