7 Creative Ways to Save Money on Home Décor for the Holidays

Piggy bank in a Christmas hat to save money ‘Tis the season for ugly Christmas sweaters, copious amounts of turkey, white elephant exchanges and of course, time spent around those you love and care for. Whether you are hosting your company ugly sweater party, family Christmas dinner, or your book club holiday extravaganza, you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank on holiday decorations. Here at the Arc Store, we came up with some of our favorite tips, tricks, DIY’s and other ways to save money and help you impress your guests with your home décor this holiday season!

1. Holiday Silverware Stockings

Instead of napkins, try placing your silverware in small stockings to add a touch of Christmas flare to your table. Guests young and old will adore this. A great way to save money is making your own stockings with upcycled sweaters. You may also be able to find them at your local discount or thrift stores.

2.  Turn Second Hand Sweaters into Stockings!

This silver wreath is a creative and easy way to incorporate a rustic feel into your home all while saving money. Of course, they can be bought new. However, if bought used and slightly tarnished, they add a very nice warmth to a room. They also cost a fraction of the price if purchased second hand.

5.  Decorate with Seasonal Hybrids

Who says your Christmas decorations have to come down in January? Try decorating with items that will not only look fantastic during the holidays, but all year round as well!  Think of this as spreading your dollar through the whole year rather than just November to December.

6.  Second Hand Mirror Chalkboard

Chalkboard paint can be found at any home improvement store. Of course, you can also find great looking mirrors at your local thrift or second hand store. You can paint it your desired color, or just leave it as is. In this project provided by The Yellow Cape Cod, they decided to add a wreath along with a Christmas carol on the chalkboard. How creative! When the holiday season is over, remove the wreath and replace the Christmas carol with your favorite phrase. Or for all of you die-hard Christmas fans, leave it!

7.  Spray Painted Metallic Branches
