5 Ways to Revive Used Clothing in Your Closet From the Arc Stores

used_clothing_-_jeans_and_scissorsWe’ve all seen the movies. We’ve read the Cosmo articles. We’ve talked with friends. We all know women LOVE clothing and we all know that shopping is FUN. Getting to show off your new look and hearing, “That shirt is so cute! Where did you get it?” feels great. But think about this: wouldn’t it be better to still feel all of those things while spending little to NO MONEY doing so? You have used clothing right? Of course you do! You can also score a great deal on a high priced item by shopping at the Arc Store in Chico.

YOU can be the girl with the retro high-waisted shorts that are so popular, without shelling over cash to some overpriced vintage boutique. YOU can have those fun casual tees without trolling the internet for hours. YOU can forget about those embarrassing ketchup stains on your favorite white jeans without begging the drycleaner to “do their magic.” Sounds great right?

Here are 5 ways to revive your used clothing to look fun and fresh without spending a ton of cash

Old Jeans = Daisy Dukes

Summer is coming and we are all thinking about where to find a great and comfortable pair of shorts to rock this season. Are you looking for a pair to wear over that bikini while strolling on the beach? Are you looking for those trendy high-waisted shorts that are popping up all over the fashion magazines? Well you are in luck because you have jeans and you have found this helpful article.

Look no further than your own used clothing or shop at the Chico Arc Store where there are lots of gently used clothes to choose from. The best part is that you are in control of how long or short you want them to be. You have also worn them in to fit YOUR body, not some mannequin in a workshop, so they are a guaranteed fit! Here is a helpful link to find the right way to cut those old drab jeans to make you look like a million bucks.

Jackets = Sleeveless Vests

Denim and flannel shirts are a great way to take something old and turn them into a hip summer piece. Depending on the type of material and style, you can easily remove sleeves from these oversized shirts to make a vest to be worn over shorts and a tank. This is a great look for outdoor adventures or if you want to add a little grunge style into your outfit. If you want a finished edge your can cut and hem. For a frayed edge, simply cut with sewing scissors and wash as normal.

Tees = Tanks

If you are like every other person I know you probably have a drawer full of used clothing, such as t-shirts you have collected over the years from your various activities. A great way to utilize these out of style shirts is to get out those sewing scissors and go to town! Cutting the sleeves and neck off of an old tee gives you a great workout tank that you can wear and not worry about getting sweaty.

Tanks = Crop Tops

If you are the one who collects tank tops instead of t-shirts you can turn those boring tank tops into frisky crop tops. Cutting the desired amount off the bottom of the shirt gives you the control to make it a perfect fit to pair with those Daisy Dukes and that sleeveless vest you just made!

HELPFUL TIP: If you are cutting shirts and tank tops without a hem it is helpful to stretch the area (I.e. sleeve, neck, etc.) with both hands slightly after cutting so that it does not fray in the wash.

Sweaters = Sweet Accessories

If you love to accessorize you are in luck! There are many fun and easy ways to turn your old sweaters and t-shirts into trendy accessories like headbands, bracelets, sweatbands and boot socks. This great Pinterest pin shows how you can use an old sweater to make several pairs of boot socks.

I bet all of that used clothing hanging in the back of your closet is looking a little more exciting now huh? For more great ideas on how to repurpose your used clothing and more, follow the Arc Stores on Facebook and Pinterest.
