6 Ways To Save Money And Still Have A Blast On Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial DayMemorial Day weekend is coming up! Yahoo! But wait, you do not want to spend a lot and are looking for ways to save money—which seems nearly impossible anymore. Don’t worry! We’ve got some stellar tips for you to save some cash and still have a blast this Memorial Day weekend.

Take a Staycation

Who says you have to leave for Memorial Day weekend anyway? Yes, it’s nice to go away but think of all the people who are doing just that. Every touristy location is gong to be jam-packed and traffic on the way back may just be a bit of a hassle. Save yourself some money and gas and stay right where you are!

TIP: If you absolutely feel the need to get out of town—go camping! Be prepared though it’s going to be busy and many places will be booked up, so make sure you call to make reservations or see if there are still spots available. If so, take a large group of people so that you can split the costs of the campsite, gas, food and drinks. Plus, it will be more fun! If you don’t go camping often and don’t have the gear, stop by your local second hand store to see what kind of camping gear you can purchase too.

Have a BBQ Where Everyone Brings Something

When you have everyone pitch in and help out with a party you’ll definitely save a lot of money compared to buying everything yourself. Buy the meat and have each party guest bring a side like a salad or some type of appetizer. Also, tell everyone it’s BYOB (bring your own beverage), which will majorly help cut down on costs since drinks are expensive. Visit your local thrift store to pick up some inexpensive barbeque decorations too.

TIP: Check for coupons and special deals that the grocery stores are having. They often have good deals on things like chips and soda on holiday weekends. So, don’t forget to take a few extra minutes to clip those coupons.

Go To Someone Else’s Party

Got invited to someone’s Memorial Day party? Perfect! Money saving problem was just solved. It’s always nice to ask what you should bring to the party though so don’t be stingy on that! Think of all the money you are saving anyways on not hosting.

Attend Free Events

Often, the city you live in will have many different events during a weekend like Memorial Day. Often free craft fairs, concerts and parades are held during this weekend. Grab some friends or the family and head on down to one of these free events. What’s better than having fun without spending a dime.

Go To a Creek/Lake/River

Bodies of water are still free thankfully! Take advantage of them while you can, especially with the heat rising day by day! Bring a few floaties and cruise on down the river or just sit by the side of the creek. What did this cost you? Pretty much $0 minus the gas you spent to get there. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Shop at a Thrift Store For Your Holiday Outfit

If you’re one of those people that needs a new outfit for every event you go to we suggest shopping at a second hand / thrift store. Looking good comes with a price unless you know how to be smart and take advantage of your local thrift store. This is also a great place to find decorations or household items for your party if you choose to have one this holiday.

See! There’s still ways to have fun on holidays without spending a whole lot of money. We wish you a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend! Hope these money saving tips have helped! Remember to stop by the Arc Store to shop for your Memorial Day plans and bring the coupon below with you!
