Bundle Up with Second Hand Clothing for your Ice Skating in Paradise
In Butte County we generally enjoy mild weather winters. We love the rain and snow, but we don’t usually stock our wardrobes with winter wear.
I know there were times when I needed a snow suit for my daughter, but since she would only wear it for an occasional day in the snow or trip to the mountains, it was hard for me to justify purchasing brand new snow gear.
If you find yourself facing this same dilemma, there are a few things you can do that don’t require you to buy full priced winter clothing:
Ask your friends
Just as your snow gear may sit in your closet to be used 2 times a year, your friends may have the gear you need, so ask! If they have kids the same age as your kids, chances are you can get the right sized snow boots and gear.
Hand-me-downs
Save that box of snow pants, gloves, hats and gloves. When the family needs something, take down the box and see what item fits this year.
Second hand clothing
People just like you have donated items that they don’t use often, and you can find some great deals at used clothing stores near you. Gently used second hand clothing items for winter are great finds for a fraction of the price. So when you only wear them a few times a season, you don’t have to worry! Check out the Arc Stores in Chico, Paradise, and Oroville this time of year!
Shop smart
By planning ahead and shopping in the off seasons, you can find winter items on sale! Sometimes you will only pay a small percentage of the in season price.

Now that you have a few ideas on how to get dressed for “Winter Fun” and not break your budget, why not head out to the Ice Skating Rink in Paradise! Get a few families together or a group of friends and bundle up in your second hand winter gear. Enjoy a day on the rink at the Paradise Ice Rink.

School Days 2 for 1 Nights:
“School Days Two-for-One Nights” on Mondays through Thursdays when school is in session.
November 30-December 3, December 7-10, December 14-17, and January 4- 7.
Pay one regular admission and a friend can skate for free!
Santa and LIVE Reindeer:
December 5, 2015 – Beginning at 2:00pm
Start your Holiday Season with Paradise Recreation& Park District as we welcome Santa and two live reindeer with song, dance, and more seasonal cheer!
The reindeer will be at the Rink from 2:00pm-6:00pm and Santa will be taking requests from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. After visiting Santa stick around for the fantastic Truck Parade going down Skyway.
Santa will also return to the Rink on December 12th and 19th from 2:00pm- 4:00pm to take more holiday requests!
