Create Your Halloween Costumes for Couples at the Arc Store in Chico
Going to a Halloween costume party? Are you stressing yourself out trying to come up with new ideas AND you’re on a budget? Let the Arc Store in Chico help you with a few tips on how to create your own Halloween costumes for both you and your significant other. Use the ideas, come into the store and start building the best couple’s costumes you’ve ever seen. Who’s going to win the prize for best costume? Why you and your partner, of course.
Old standards stand the test of time
Young or old, everyone knows Frankenstein and his Bride. Create the bride costume very inexpensively with black, flowing clothing, white face paint, and bright red lipstick. Complete the ensemble by spraying your hair black with a vivid lightning strike down each side and voila, you are the dreaded Bride of Frankenstein.
The Arc Store has many manly clothes for your Frankenstein. If he’s not the stature of the original, buy big clothes and stuff them to make your Frank look ginormous. Stick some giant boots on him and small wooden dowels in his arm sleeves and the legs of his trousers so he has no choice but to walk stiffly into the party. A little green paint on the face, neck and hands before painting black “stitches” onto his neck and head will certainly transform that handsome man into a gruesome guy.
Use the internet for inspiration
A large list of couple’s costumes can be found here, all open to your own creative interpretation. Most can be homemade from items you already have or by searching through the Arc Store clothing racks.
Recognizable characters, but out of character for you? No problem.
Who would ever guess that you and your mate are rock band superstars? Unless you’re already in a rock band, probably no one. Well, go all out and rock the night at the Halloween Party when you and your partner both show up as Kiss Stars, Ozzy, or John and Yoko. Words cannot describe the basic tools needed for this costume, seeing is believing.
Food is an essential in life, so be essentially colorful
You’ve no doubt heard about the “cereal killer” costume, attaching empty boxes of breakfast cereal to your used clothing that you found at the Arc Store in Chico, with knives protruding and fake blood dripping.
If your other half is tall, that will enhance the costume choice of The Jolly Green Giant. Buy green clothes at the Arc second hand store, make a one shoulder toga out of it, attach very green leaves to the toga and hair then paint yourself green all over using body paint. Couples attending a Halloween party as a group
How about a “bunch of grapes?” Super easy to assemble, just pick a color of a grape – purple, green or red – and search the shelves and racks of the Arc Store in Chico to find head to toe pants, shirts, and hats in the solid color you choose. Attach blown up balloons to your clothing and carry empty wine bottles to signify what kind of grape you are. Hopefully the party you’re all attending is close by, because you’re probably going to have to walk, sitting will burst your balloons. Beware of friends dressed as Edward Scissorhands!
To make it even more fun, find a tall, but thin, tree branch, gather around it and each tie yourself to the branch. You will truly be a bunch of grapes attached to the stalk. Don’t let anyone pick one of you, they have to take you as a whole bunch!
Here’s one last, but great source of directions on how to make costumes.
Whatever or whoever you choose to be on Halloween, have fun with it, and save money by visiting the Arc Store in Chico. Being part of a couple has its perks, dressing as a famous duo is just one of them. Carry on and party!
