Don’t Want to Rent a Suit for Prom? Visit a Second Hand Clothing Store
Prom season is upon us! SO much excitement is erupting at school and every teenage girl is anxiously awaiting the day they get to dance the night away with their date. But, guys what about you? That’s right, we’re not forgetting about you. While you are probably excited as well, you’re a bit anxious about spending a couple hundred on a tux rental.
What if you could still have an awesome prom outfit, but have more money left over for a nicer dinner, or for activities after prom? Wouldn’t that be awesome? It can happen!
How? By shopping for your suit at a second hand clothing store!
We know this may be unfamiliar territory for you, that’s why we are helping you with some tips on how to score a rockin’ prom suit from a second hand store.
Start your search early
If there’s one thing to learn about shopping at second hand clothing stores, it’s that you must have patience. Since you never quite know what to expect, you can’t assume they will have certain things, such as a department store does.
Ask for help
It’s a good idea, when you are looking for something specific like a prom suit, to ask the second hand store staff about what their inventory for that product looks like. They will often have the best idea of what is in the store at that very moment and if they get that type of clothing in frequently. Plus, many places allow you to leave your number with them so that you can be alerted as soon as what you are looking for comes in stock.
Think inventively
Since you’re shopping at a second hand clothing store, the entire suit may not be in one piece. You may have to think creatively and pair different parts of the suit yourself. But this is when it really gets fun and you get to truly experience what it’s like thrift store shopping!
Bring a friend or your date
In general, shopping at second hand clothing stores is always way more fun when you have a friend with you! Digging through clothes and finding cool items is so much better when someone is by your side to share the adventure. Plus, if you bring someone they can help with letting you know if your suit is prom worthy.
Take what you can get
There is no guarantee that you will find your entire suit and outfit for prom. It’s not promised that your local thrift store will even have suits in the inventory at the moment. That’s ok, because you still need shoes and accessories. If you can’t find the entire outfit, turn to looking for shoes, ties, hat’s etc.
We hope this was helpful in your journey of finding your prom essential at a second hand clothing store. Have fun shopping and most of all, have a blast at prom!
