How to Buy Used Clothes, Shop Smart, and Look Fabulous for Fall
Staying stylish in fall while still being warm and comfy is top priority, but can be challenging. Sure, you have really gorgeous clothing that you can wear to look effortlessly chic, but you can only wear these items so many times. You need another plan for looking great while staying warm. Clothes can be pricey. Learn how to shop smart and save money when you buy used clothes.
Cardigans
Cardigans are one of those versatile items that every woman needs in her closet. Almost every used clothing store has them. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and prints – but all cardigans are not created equal. Some cardigans are better for certain body types, and others are better for certain outfits. It can get a little confusing sometimes, but wearing the right cardigan for your body type and for your outfit is important.
Waist-Length & Cropped Cardigans
The most common and classic styles of cardigans are the waist-length cardigan and the cardigan that is cropped at the wrist or higher.
Don’t: Wear them with long tops. The contrast in lengths is not flattering, and creates a weird shape and proportion on your body.
Do: Wear them with fit and flare style dresses, or high-waisted skirts. The hem of the cardigan should not go more than a few inches past the waist band of your dress or skirt, so keep that in mind when pairing them.
The Oversized Cardigan
Oversized Aztec cardigans are huge this season, but they can be a little tricky to style
Don’t: Wear loose fitting bottoms with them. Stay away from boyfriend jeans and maxi skirts. The wideness on top and bottom will make you look, well, wide!
Do: Wear your skinniest pair of jeans or leggings. Keep those legs looking as slim as possible!
Ankle Boots
After a long, cold winter, I was really excited to spend the summer wearing flip-flops and sandals. I couldn’t wait to show off my pedicures and to free my feet. But now, after a long, hot summer, I’m pretty excited to start wearing boots again. Shop smart and buy your boots at used clothing stores because the price of new boots can be so expensive.
Make good use of your summer kimonos by wearing them with ankle boots and leggings or skinny jeans.
Cuff your jeans with your boots:
Add a flannel shirt to be even more comfortable.
Scarfs
No stylish fall garment is complete without a scarf. Truly versatile, this accessory can keep you warm and chic. Every used clothing store has hundreds of scarfs. Shop smart by hitting your local thrift store first. Paying full price is totally out of the question.
Classic – Add volume by fluffing the scarf around your neck
Infinity – For a fuss-free yet fashionable way to wear a scarf, try the infinity style. All you need to do is wrap the scarf around your neck in a figure 8.
So are you starting to think about those baggy sweaters and comfy boots? I know I am.
Staying stylish is often hard in today’s economy, but it doesn’t have to be. Shop smart and buy used clothes. Most of the time it was only wore once or maybe never at all!
