Last Minute July 4th Party Decor Made With Thrift Store Items
Oh my firecrackers it’s almost the Fourth! Yes the 4th of July is upon us once again. With the heat quickly sneaking up on us as well, we better kick it into high gear and start planning. Do you need a few quick, easy, and fun ideas? Here are a variety of ideas from a patriotic outfit to table décor. Many of the supplies you will need can be found at your local thrift store.
Firework Crowns
Here’s a great way to get everyone involved. Pick up some red, white, blue, and silver pipe cleaners, and have everyone make their own crown.
Patriotic Mason Jars
I just love mason jars. They can be used for so many things.
- First start by picking up a few mason jars with or without the lids at your local thrift store. They don’t have to match.
- Second don’t forget to stop and get craft paint form your local craft store. Michaels should have everything that you need.
- Now you’re ready to start painting. I went with 3 mason jars, each a patriotic color. This trio can be front and center in your home all season long.
Framed Flag
This is a super easy way to show some spirit. All you need is a really cool frame from a thrift store and a flag of the same size. Simply place the flag in the frame as you would with a picture. You may also paint the frame a color of your choice just for a bit more spirit.
Ribbon and Rag Flag
This is yet another project that can be used all year long. To create the stripes, I layered thirteen strips of torn fabric with bits of lace, ribbon, ric-rack and pom-pom fringe. Then the union was formed when I painted white stars on a piece of denim. You can also use a piece of blue fabric. I love how these flags flutter in the wind.
Stars and Stripes T-Shirt
I am sure you have left over paint from a few other 4th of July projects. All you need is an old t-shirt. You can always find white tees at a thrift store. There are so many awesome ideas out there nowadays for some great t-shirts. But here’s one that everyone can get involved with.- Slide a piece of cardboard inside the shirt.
- For the red part tape off stripes and make sure to cover up the part you want to make blue.
- After the red has dried, take off only the tape that’s over the section where you want blue and tape over the surrounding red parts.
- Lay down your star stickers however you like and spray away!
- After everything has dried take the tape off and you’re done. I cut the sleeves off mine, feel free to cut your shirt anyway you would like.
