Father’s Day is coming up. It’s a day to celebrate, thank and honor your father for raising you, being there for you and ultimately being a dad!

Just in case you just freaked out a little, don’t worry you still have some time to prepare, Father’s Day isn’t until June 21st.

If you’re also stressing out about money a bit, you shouldn’t worry about that either. There are still plenty of fun activities you can do with your dad that won’t cost you a ton of money. Read on for some money saving tips!

Bowling

Often times your local bowling alley will have nights where it’s cheaper to bowl. For example, the bowling alley here in Chico has $1 bowling nights on Monday’s after 8 p.m. Dads love to bowl and it’s a great opportunity to spend some time together and have a little friendly competition.

Picnic

Packing a picnic and taking it to the park is always a fun time. You can pack your food and make it at home, saving money on eating out. There’s nothing better than enjoying a nice sandwich while you’re sitting on a blanket in the middle of the park!

Hike/Get outdoors

Getting outside and utilizing your local parks is a fun time and also very inexpensive if not completely free. If your Dad is the kind that likes to get outside and explore new areas, this is a great activity for him. Switch it up for Father’s Day and try out a trail that neither of you have done, so that you can experience it for the first time, together.

Some other ideas outside:

  • Bike ride
  • Horseback riding
  • Game of basketball
  • Playing catch
  • Practicing your golf swings
  • Swimming

Fishing

Classic dad outing, right? Fishing is a pretty inexpensive sport, especially if you already have all of the gear required. If not, you may be able to find fishing poles for a fraction of the price at your local thrift store.

BBQ

A great way to make Dad happy is to take over on the grill for the night and let him sit back and relax. It’s always nice when you don’t have to cook and just get to enjoy someone else’s cooking. If you’re running a little low on kitchen items and utensils, you can find some great deals at the thrift store where you’ll be sure to save money.

We hope some of these money saving tips will help you have a great Father’s Day spent with your Dad! These fun outings are proof that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a good time and make someone you love happy at the same time. Happy Father’s Day to all you Dads out there!
