This is such a simple, yet classic look. Because the paper may be slightly see through or frail, you may want to try layering a few pieces so the surprise isn’t spoiled.

Butcher Paper or Grocery Bags

There is so much you could do with plain ole’ butcher paper. Rolls can be found on Amazon or your local crafts store. There are a few great things about butcher paper:

  • It’s very sturdy!
  • It usually comes in bulk and last a very long time.
  • You can use it for projects thoroughout the year.

Butcher paper comes in different colors as well! Try using black paper, for example. Because it’s just a plain color, it can easily be customized to your style.

If you don’t want to spend money on butcher paper, grocery bags can easily be separated and used as well.

How to Dress it Up:

  • Try using twine instead of ribbon. The twine will add a rustic feel to your gift and it also costs less than ribbon.

  • Metallic Markers (or any markers) can easily add another dimension to your gift. And you can customize it however you’d like.

  • Substitute plastic bows with greenery from your Christmas tree! This is a favorite way to save money on decorating Christmas presents.

  • Instead of buying sticky tags, find an online site and print them out for free.

  • An ink pad and stamps can be used again and again (also customizable).

Hollow Walnut Shells

If you’re gifting something small, maybe jewelry or folded up money, these hollow walnut shells are perfect! These are also perfect if you like to bake with walnuts during the season.

Carefully crack and empty the walnut shells. Place your gift inside and hot glue it shut. No one will ever see it coming…

This is another very creative idea for wrapping small gifts. Just fold in the ends and glue or tape shut.

Don’t underestimate the power of upcycled clothing. If you can’t bring yourself to sacrifice whatever is in your wardrobe, you can easily find knitted sweaters or scarves at your local second hand store. We have a great selection here at the Arc Stores in Chico, Paradise and Oroville.

We know that these fun, easy and simple wrapping paper ideas will impress your friends, family and coworkers all season long.
