Salmon Festival in Oroville Ca Has Great Food and Entertainment
Come See Thousands of Returning Chinook Salmon!
Every September, the streets of Oroville between historic downtown and the Feather River Fish Hatchery burst with fish-flavored activities during the annual Salmon Festival.
On this special weekend Oroville celebrates the thousands of spawning salmon that annually make their way from the ocean back up the Feather River. Environmental education, music, salmon tasting, tours of the hatchery and fun for kids and adults highlight this free event. Here is a schedule of the events that happen throughout the eventful weekend.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2015
6 p.m.- 9 p.m. Feather River Nature Center Dinner & Dance
Start the celebration by joining the Friends of the Feather River Nature Center for an evening of food, music and dance at the annual salmon and tri-tip BBQ overlooking the Feather River on Salmon Court. The event is a fundraiser for the Feather River Nature Center on Old Ferry Road. There will be free on-site parking.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under. Door prizes will be drawn from dinner tickets.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2015
FREE PARKING & SHUTTLE BUSES start Saturday at 9 am
8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. KAYAKING ON THE FEATHER RIVER
Kayak rentals will be provided by Forebay Aquatic Center. They will launch from under the Green Bridge at the fish hatchery. The float is approximately 1.5 hours long and ends at Riverbend Park where a free shuttle will be available for a ride back to the festival. Launch times are 8:30, 11, 1:30 and 4.
9 a.m. – 3 p.m. FISH HATCHERY TOURS
Beat the heat and enjoy a pancake breakfast at the hatchery along with fish viewing, free hatchery tours, kids and education booths and more!
9:30 a.m. OROVILLE HOSPITAL SALMON ‘COLOR’ DASH
Join in on this fun 3K run along the beautiful Feather River and get doused with ‘color.’ Registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the dash starts at 9:30 a.m. In this run participants are covered in colored cornstarch along the way so be sure to wear white! 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. DOWNTOWN OROVILLE STREET FAIR
Come enjoy the Downtown Oroville Street Fair. There will be over 100 vendors selling art, crafts, commercial goods, live music, a new food court and kids zone in the heart of downtown at Montgomery and Myers Street.
10 a.m. – 6 p.m. SALMON COURT
Featuring FREE non-stop live entertainment, grilled and smoked salmon options, salmon food trucks, beer & wine garden, Oroville Hospital Health Fair, art exhibits, non-profit alleys with dozens of community organizations and more!
