Whether you have a home full of people or a quaint little place for yourself we all love the coziness of a decorated home. I’m not just talking about the holiday season either; you can style your home with a variety of cute décor all year round. Use these helpful tips each season and you’ll have your home feeling warm – or just looking cool – in no time! Take advantage of these seasonal decorating ideas you can make with items from second hand stores.

Spring

By bringing some flowers into your home or creatively displaying them outside, you’ll be adding some pops of color and life. It will look and feel clean, fresh, and creative. You can find the perfect pots – or items to use in place of pots – at your local second hand stores.

  • Rugs
  • Wall art

Bedroom Revamp

Another fun project would be to revamp an old headboard with some fun spring fabric. By adding some padding and wrapping it in fabric you have an easy way to update an old dated headboard and create an eye catching focal point when you walk in.

There is a variety of fabric at your local second hand store as well as access to different size headboards at a great price.

Summer

Come summer time you can finally add those bright crazy colors and patterns throughout your home. An easy way to add a big statement is to paint a bright accent wall, one to catch your eye when you walk in but not be overwhelming.

Bring the fun outdoors

The best part about summer is living outside with your friends and family. Create a fun and inviting space for everyone by going to your local second hand store and finding some furniture perfect for a DIY patio make over. Find an old coffee table and with a simple coat of a fun bright color, along with an easy bright fabric cushion you now have an inexpensive comfy seating option for your guests.

Glass

Thrift stores are full of glass jars and vases. Add some summer glow to your night by putting a thin coat of paint on a glass jar. Now you have a fun candle light that brings color to your night.

Fall

Fall is the time of year we seem to gather. You can give your guests that sense of warmth with something as simple as updating your table scape.

Use a simple white plate paired with natural flowers and warm colors on the table to achieve a warm fall look easily while being on a budget.

Fall Foliage Arrangements

By replacing those bright plants around the house with neutral and warm fall colored foliage you can give a quick update to fit the season. There’s something about an earthy arrangement that brings your home that cozy welcome feeling.

Pumpkins

Pumpkins are a great way to bring fall into your home. You can display them outside to create a welcoming entry way by lining your front area, whether it be steps or around your door. These can also be paired with some fall flowers.

You can bring pumpkins inside your home by picking small ones to add to a simple center piece or even in random places throughout your living spaces.
